Nice solid knife
I love the clunk sound it makes upon opening and closing. It sounds solid. And nice smooth action. Easy to flip open. Great size for EDC.
Great flipper
The action is super satisfying and with just a bit of honing is now razor sharp. I picked it up for about 45 on sale.....best knife bargain ever.
Great lil' Pocket Cleaver
For the reasonable price of $70, this knife feels exceptional for EDC use. Its small size makes it easy and comfortable to carry. The build quality is excellent and feels great. Definitely a must have!
Excellent little knife
The blade shape of this knife makes it one of the most utilitarian knives I've ever owned for my personal EDC uses. The size and weight are such that a person can easily carry it just about anywhere on you you'd like and it's almost unnoticeable. I'm hoping soon Kizer will make the regular size version of the sheepdog in the Vangaurd series because I'd buy one in a heartbeat!
New Fav EDC
Do it, you won't regret it! I've been looking all summer for the perfect size, perfect weight, perfect blade geometry EDC for awhile, and this checks essentially every box for me. I love the sheepsfoot blade on on other knives like the Pilar and the MKM Isonzo, but I like just a little more blade length than these offer. When I found the Mini Sheepdog, it was exactly that. It hasn't… read more left my pocket since I got it, which is saying something, since I usually swap out my blade every few days because whatever I'm carrying just isn't doing it for me. This always does, whether I'm out on the jobsite (I work in construction), or at church, this is with me. The bearings are easy to clean without disassembling, and easy to lube as well. Pick up one, or three, whatever you want! I'll be picking up a full size just for fun, but it'll be hard to beat this one for the size, weight, and price!
Sweet!
It’s an awesome knife at an even awesomer price. Works well, looks Tough.
Flipping smooth
I love to open this knife. I've never felt anything quite like it, but I also don't have a lot of particularly nice knives. I went to a cheese tasting last weekend and we were not supplied knives, but luckily the mini sheepdog came to the rescue. It slipped through those cheeses like butter and the cleaver blade was a very nice serving tray.
Nice little Guy
This is a nice little blade. It could be better however and I think all of those improvements are made on the other version. I went cheap and got this version. Initial impression is that when they say mini they mean mini. This is a little smaller than I was expecting. The scales feel very nice but it doesn't quite fill my hand. Blade steel is pretty decent. Shape and form are unique… read more and fun. The action on it is an A+. This is a solid built well made little guy.
Unique and dimensionally... strange?
Really cool little EDC. I will say, a mini folder clever is pretty fun to own. Cuts well out of the box, Kizer also deserves some kind of superficial cool points for the packaging and contents. The ONLY reason I personally give it a 4/5 is for the following: I have XL hands (yes I know, there is a larger size offered - KK&Read on). There is something strange about the dimensions… read more of this as a small cutting tool. I don't know how it's possible to feel wide, flat, and chunky all at the same time.. but it happens when I hold this knife. Maybe it's the overall length in conjunction to its overall height? No, I don't mean width (like the spine of the blade or handle), I mean height. Maybe I should have purchased the full size? Still, a great knife, even if it's fit and footprint are strange in MY hands.
Love it.
This is my favorite EDC knife. Mine came shaving sharp. I love the action and it's great to just flip it open over and over. Not sure why people are complaining about the pocket clip being tight, it's supposed to be...
I'm a chef not a pocket knife enthusiast
Yes, everyone seems to get that this is a pretty cool budget friendly knife. And I certainly think any edc should be budget friendly...
Having said that there a few issues with this knife. But first I'd like to say the knife was perfect out of the box. It flew open, it was pretty sharp, it locked up nice and tight, perfectly centered and it glides to it's closing. Sweet!…

But... the clip is way to tight, the scales are way to grippy and I wish the flipper wasn't so damn large!
To fix what I could... I sanded the scales down with extra fine sand paper and adjusted the clip with a flat screwdriver, at least now the knife glides in and out of my pocket. Nothing I could about the oversized flipper...
Maybe they shouldn't have rushed this thing out for the Holliday shopping season!!!!!!!
I like but just ok
it is their budget version, but still nice. great little slicer with decent blade steel. love the look of it. if you use your knives to cut open boxes all day this is your knife
Fantastic Small EDC
The only mild drawback is the lack of grip on liner lock. It's very manageable, but could be better. Other than that, I LOVE the g10, the grip is great, blade was crazy sharp. Fantastic small EDC
Great Knife
I love this great little knife. I bought three: one for me and two for my sons. Everything is really nice, except for the pocket clip, which I find unusable. It is very stiff and the tip is bent only slightly, which makes it impossible for me to slip over the fabric of my pocket. Does anyone have a solution?
Cool design but disappointing quality and sevice
I’m going to skip what is great about this knife because you can find that in other reviews but I do agree with them besides the following points.
First negatives come from the design. The lock is difficult to disengage because it is flush with the scales and the detent is difficult to overcome when closing similar to most frame/liner lock flippers. The pocket clip makes…

this knife really difficult to put in and take out of pocket.
Next comes fit and finish and experience with purchasing. I first purchased this knife through amazon but promptly returned it because the action was gritty and the centering was terribly off to the right. I decided to come to BHQ because I figured they might check the qc for me... They did not and never acknowledged my request through both an order comment and an email. Upon receiving my second sheepdog from BHQ, the centering was off to the left, the action was gritty and there was blade play no matter how I adjusted it. My theory is the issue came from the liners/blade's bearing race being machined poorly. I'm confused because I can't find any of these issues in any other review through any medium and I've now experienced it twice. After flipping the blade for a while the centering and blade play has improved to an acceptable level for a $69 Chinese knife with break in and I think whatever machining imperfections are slowly wearing down.
Another thing I have to mention is Blade HQ’s shipping; I ordered the knife the late morning of a Wednesday and it didn't leave their warehouse until the next Monday. I understand they just moved locations but come on, they already charged me for slow shipping on a $69 item.
In conclusion for my experience purchasing this knife: I really like it for most of the same reasons as others but the fit and finish in my experience are no where close to what other reviews say and even though I love what BHQ does on YouTube and with their inventory, their shipping kills me.
Great edc
Love the blade size and shape. Wanted a stubby little box cutter and this clever fits the bill. Handle is a little small for me solid three finger but manageable. Fit and finish is ok spaces on pivot and g10 not even and locks early, centering is good. Also wish the knife had jimping I think it would really improve the handling.Over all happy with the knife for the price it’s…

Loving it!
This is my first ever Kizer and I must say I'm impressed. The fit and finish on this knife are on par with some well known American made kives. I wear a medium/large glove and this knife locks in my hand perfect with a three finger grip. I've seen some say theirs wasn't all that sharp mine came razor sharp. Absolute home run with this one Kizer!
Love this knife
Just received my preorder today and first off the bladehq staff are fantastic helping me with shipping. The sheepdog is a great little knife , centering is good and no blade play on mine. As others have said the action feels great . You also get a C10C patch and cleaning cloth with the knife , was a nice little surprise .
Cool blade for price.
fit and finish is good but not great. there is small gaps in the g10 but nothing that will effect the user. lock up is extremly early but tight. action is great and fun to play with. it is a very small knife. smaller than a mini grip and delica. i havent carried it yet but out of the box i dont think you would be disappointed for the price.
Kizer Sheepdog Mini
First, Blade HQ is great! Helpful staff, fast shipping and this knife is amazing. Thanks for the recommendation. The knife shows obvious quality and design. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. The craftsmanship is apparent and the blade is flawless. I have a dozen Spyderco and Benchmade knives in my collection; some are limited production models that cost 4-5 times what… read more this knife cost and honestly the sheepdog belongs in the same class. This is my new EDC. Love the design! I think I need a full size one next.
