About Kansept Knives Mini Accipiter Frame Lock Knife Marble CF (2.8" SW)

This Mini Accipiter MODel has a marble carbon fiber handle. Most of us who love Knives look for Knives that are functional in design, made of good materials, and look good. Knives that maximize all three are the knife community favorites. The Kansept Mini Accipiter maximizes all three. It's a beautiful knife with a very clean design. The blade has a gentle drop point design that slices, pierces, and cuts like a dream. It opens using the gimped front fLipper and the ball bearing pivot. The smooth open and drop-shut close make the knife addictively fidgety. Could easily have been a 5 star knife

Both this Accipiter and the Kansept Gremlin designs appealed to me because of the substantial blade housed in a thin, lightweight handle. So I bought both to see which I liked better.

The Gremlin arrived first. I liked almost everything about it - the manufacturing quality, the smoothness of operation, things you can’t tell from from the specs or photos. But the milled read more titanium pocket clip was much stiffer than any other knife I own, to the point of not being able to use it without damaging my pants pocket.

The Accipiter has the same clip, unfortunately. But the bigger issue is the front end tab opener rather than the more traditional back flipper which many of us know and love.

I’m having a lot of difficulty getting the knife to open satisfactorily and would much prefer a traditional flipper.

Also, I have to use a thumbnail to release the frame lock to close the blade on the Accipiter. Would much rather to be able to release it with just my thumb - it’s quicker and easier.

Overall, I like the looks and feel of the Accipiter somewhat better than the Gremlin, but would have to give the nod to the Gremlin for overall winner because of its easier opening and closing ergonomics.

I still have to decide if the unusable pocket clip is a deal killer on the Gremlin for an otherwise very nice knife.

Hmm. Maybe the Gremlin flipper blade will work with the Accipiter handle?

Naaaaw. Will keep looking for the perfect knife!
