Great Quality, Bit Big for EDC

The thing is a tank. If i could I'd give it 4 and a half stars. Can't quite give it 5 though as it's just a bit too unwieldy for an an edc. Great sticky G10 and the the lock is tight and impressive. Overall, it would be a good "hard use" folder if you're willing to beat up and expensive piece of steel.

First off, I know that this is a production version of the Demko's AD-15, so some concessions had to be made to bring the price down.

The good includes how beefy the knife is. Super solid as one comes to expect from a Cold Steel offering and I can see how the scorpion lock can be beneficial. The more you grip down on it, the more tight the lock (that blade ain't going nowhere!). read more Took me a few minutes to get used to how to close it one handed, but overall, not bad once you get used to it. Mine came wicked sharp out of the box and almost got its baptism in blood on my first use. I do like that you can use the thumb stud to either do a thumb roll or use a flick motion to open it.

The bad includes how many hot spots are on the knife. The jimping on the spine of the blade is rough and can dig into your thumb. Also, the lock mechanism's edges are a bit square and can dig into the palm. The scales are a bit rough, but as other commenters pointed out, a bit of sandpaper takes care of that. Additionally, for me, the end of the clip sits a tad high and you can feel it when you grip on it tightly.

My first cold steel and its great! The clip was stiff. Easy fix, bent the clip a little. The G-10 was rough but a little sandpaper took care of it. Very happy with my purchase

Great Knife for Big Dudes

Cool action. Great blade. But its a BIG knife. If you're on the smaller side, you may have a hard time manipulating this knife, or finding it pocket friendly. I Love it!

No Regrets, Solid Knife

This knife is a beast. It's large, solid, and tough. The edge is a razor. The construction is quality. The only downside is the clip is very tough and sits over rough G10, this will be rough on pockets. This knife is great and I highly recommend this as an EDC, tactical, or duty knife.

Bigger and tougher than my PM2 and Rift.

Great knife, innovative lock and built tough

I have been carrying the AD15 by cold steel for about a week now. Such a great knife.....I have been drooling over the Demko custom AD15 for a while but it is way out of my budget......To get this knife at $160 is a steal. Great fit and finish, really sturdy and the lock is fun to play with. It does have a learning curve....but when you figure it out....it sings! Only complaint read more would be the texture of the G10 on the clip side, it's a pocket ripper.....Okay on Denim, but would probably tear up your fancy pants...lol

Beefy

Now this is a nice looking cold steel. I've been diving into the cold steel knives lately because I really like the sturdiness of the knives. This is no exception. Sturdy and well built. Handle to blade ratio is much better than other cold steels I've had.Fit and finish are excellent. The lock is cool and the knife is unique. The bad parts are the damn cold steel clip. Cold steel read more clips are crazy to get into your pants. The G10 on the scales is really rough and will eat a pocket up. The lock itself is a little trouble to learn but can easily be figured out with some time. Very nice knife.

Amazing locking mechanism

One of the best Cold Steel has to offer. I find myself opening and closing it all the time. Came super sharp and super sexy haha

Got mine yesterday. It’s a big blade but feels like a tank. Took a little while to get used to the action but I have it down now! Blade came razor sharp with even grinds. Quality control is perfect on mine. This is my first higher end cold steel and I’m not disappointed in the slightest. Only thing I’d change is the pocket clip, very tight, don’t clip them to your nicer read more jeans without expecting ripping. I’ll be carrying mine mostly in uniform for military use.

On paper the ad-15 is great. Full size EDC with a nifty lock and a good steel at a reasonable price, provided you don't mind the weight. In hand, some issues become apparent.
1. The G-10 is aggressively textured and lands right under the pocket clip. This is a recipe for shredded pockets.
2. The knife is a fairly shallow carry. Not an issue in slant pockets, but jean pockets read more would show about an inch of handle.
3. The forward finger choil is too small. I have average fingers and I was riding forward slightly onto the sharpened portion of the blade.
4. Most importantly, any pressure on the yoke of the Scorpion lock makes opening the blade difficult. Think in terms of pressure on the lock bar of a frame lock. Maybe others will adjust more easily, but I found that my hands naturally put this pressure on the yoke as I went to open the knife using the thumb studs.
Overall, it's a nice concept, but it could do with some refinement. Most of my problems could be solved by purchasing the AD-10.

Cold Steel killed it on this one!! I love Demkos designs but they are out of my budget usually. Cold steel makes very tough knives but alot of them are not super practical for everyday use. Im siked the are making exact production versions of demkos knives instead of thier usual offerings . This thing is super solid, im so impressed with this knife and the lock is super fun to play read more with , if your a little burnt out on flippers like me this is the cure . Im deff grabbing AD10 after handling this one. Also i want to commend bhq on thier shipping...i paid a extra $20 at checkout for 3 days or less shipping and literally got the knife the next day.
